About Me

Ms. Armijo and Rocky Heights

I am excited to work with  English Language Learners at Rocky Heights Middle School.  Myself and other classroom teachers work hard to help our students improve their English skills throughout the day.

You can find out more about our ELL Standards at WIDA (World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment) (WIDA) HERE. This is just one guide that we use to meet the diverse needs of English Language Learners at Rocky Heights!   Our goal is for all ELL students to achieve English proficiency, to communicate effectively, think critically and work collaboratively with others. RHMS values and celebrates diversity of our students and it is a wonderful school to learn and work in.

This is my 32th year in education and 2nd at Rocky Heights. I am a native of New Mexico and graduated from the  University of New Mexico with a BS in Elementary Education. In 1996 I completed my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at George Washington University, and I am certified to teach Elementary, Secondary Literacy and English Language Learners (ELL, ESL, ELD).  Over the years, I have taught in Costa Rica, Honduras, Washington, DC suburbs, and Colorado.

I am a resource for parents too. If you have questions or want additional English lessons or literacy ideas, please contact me at lrarmijo@dcsdk12.org.
